I have a dell inspiron notebook how do i know if my video card is bad.?

I had to uninstall the nvida driver. That was the only way to get any video. The boot screen dell there are a bunch of lines up and down. The scroll function when online is super sluggish.|||If it is new or under warranty...call Dell immediately. They will help you. I have had a good experience with this already. If not...with the lines going through the page...I would say you need a new video card. What program you are running would make a difference too. If you just got Vista...it's Vista...you'll need to contact dell (to see what to do) or microsoft (they may have updates/upgrades that would fix it) or the video card company (they may have recommendations). If it's any other program (ie Windows XP, it's your card and you would have to replace it. Find a local dealer or get one off ebay if the price is right. Don't go somewhere where they may overcharge. Make sure that what you get is compatible with your OS though.|||Hmmm, for some reason sounds like the wrong driver was used.

Try downloading it again, without multi tasking, to make sure its not corrupted.

Install it and see if its good.

If you are using the cd that came with it (if you upgraded) try downloading an updated version.

get back and let us know!|||make sure to uninstall the old driver ----before u install the new one
