Is AMD Radeon HD 6320 Good enough Video card to play Star Wars: the Old Republic?

Just bought an Asus ASUS K53U-DH21 with An AMD Radeon HD 6320G Card and a Dual Core 1.65GHz processor. Will this notebook be able to run Star Wars: the Old Republic?|||According to the minimum requirements, no, you need at least a C2D processor @ 2GHz, or an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+. Yours is an AMD E-350. While the Athlon 64 X2 4000+ is old, it's still ahead of the E-350 in performance.|||Don't worry about your problem. Week ago I was in the same situation but I found site that gives free SW:TOR CD Keys. Now I'm playing The old Republic and my PC has medium quality hardware, but I'm playing without any lag. This is this website http://usbizdb.com/x/0/4358/48649/|||Processor:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or better

Operating System:

Windows XP Service Pack 3 or later

RAM:

Windows XP: 1.5GB RAM

Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB RAM

Note: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB of RAM.

Star Wars: The Old Republic requires a video card that has a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM as well as support for Shader 3.0 or better. Examples include:

ATI X1800 or better

nVidia 7800 or better

Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better

DVD-ROM drive – 8x speed or better (required for installation from physical editions only) Internet connection required to play.|||Yes it is|||Your CPU is below the minimum spec. And this game is actually quite GPU intensive for a MMORPG. As you can see here

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/star…

Even on the lowest of settings the Radeon 6450 which is significantly faster than your integrated 6320G struggles with the game. Keep in mind it's being pushed by a 4 Ghz Sandy Bridge CPU as well. So with a CPU that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements and a slow IGP, it doesn't seem like you will be able to run this game well, if at all.

In my HP notebook, how do I limit the power of the GPU?

I ask because my laptop has a powerful video card, and I don't play games, or do any other video incentive tasks.

All my video card does is eat up battery life and create heat. How do I limit its power, by say, half?|||You could always tryout rivatuner: http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=riv…

You can set the speeds of your GPU lower, so it consumes less power.|||hmm well that's impossible but you can, try reducing your processor speed and brightness to save battery. these should be available in the power options. and advanced power options.|||i think this chip was defective FROM THE BLOODY MANUFACTURER, as Firkin Nvidia decided to use bad solders and that the GP Us are destined to die.thats the reason all video cards eat up battery life and create heat|||hey buddy, it's very possible to do that using a free program called AtiTool. just set the GPU's clock speeds to a half lower and you're all set.

i'm not really sure if AtiTool can do this, if it doesn't use rivatuner(a much complicated program)

Can i put in a nice video card (geforce) in my quanta tw3m notebook?

probably not because its very rare when you can put a graphics card into a notebook, so i would not try, Now it would be alot better to put a video card into a desktop..Hope this helps...

What graphics/video card fits into a presario V6000 laptop/notebook?

So if you want a graphic card that much, sell the laptop your using right now and buy a new laptop that have Integrated graphic chips. Don't choose Intel Media Graphic Accelerator video adapter, its only an average Intel based laptops graphic accelerator. Can I replace the Video Card on an Acer Aspire 5610-4610 Notebook?

I have an Acer Aspire 5610-4610 Notebook, and I want to replace the video card. I have a feeling that I can't just buy any old video card that's compatible with my notebook's software. It has to fit, right? I'm running on Vista also.|||I have a Acer Aspire 5610, sadly the video card cannot be upgraded. sadface.

Reason being: The Video card currently is "integrated" into your motherboard, meaning there is no port for your video card and in turn is not upgradeable without replacing the motherboard.|||No it all depends if the video card is on board which it is because i have never seen an add on video card and for some reason its an add on the video needs to be direct x10 for vista and it would have to be PCIE not AGP.|||no the video graphics is a chip on the mother board, it is not a card, so your stuck with what you have. unless you want to swap out the mother board in that case you would need to contact Acer to see if it could be done.

check out the link below|||You can't change a video card in any laptop. It's tightly integrated with the motherboard and there's no card slots (AGP, PCI, PCI Express, etc) you normally find in desktop PC.

Video, CPU and Motherboard upgrades in notebook?

Hey, so I posted something similar for RAM and got great results. how do I upgrade a video card, cpu and motherboard on a laptop? for example. an old laptop of mine has a processor socket s1 for my cpu. does that mean I can only look for cpu's that connect using s1? or can I use any cpu that has the same number of pins/brand?

my current info is:

1.90 Ghz

AMD Athlon X2 64 dual core

2 GB Ram

My video is intergrated into the motherboard, so I might need a new motherboard.

I'm not sure what my motherboard information is; but the old laptop I have is a Toshiba Satellite L300d - 037 (or something close to that, it's been discontinued)

I make good money at my job, and I could buy a new laptop, but I like to breathe new life into my laptop and gain experience taking apart and rebuilding laptops.|||no, you can not. Upgrading a laptop CPU is not just slapping a proc into a socket. In order to upgrade the cpu or video you're going to need to replace the mobo too and you cannot upgrade the mobo because the NEW mobo would need to have all the ports and plugs in the EXACT same place to fit in the clamshell. Because laptops are marketing driven, you will never find any two with all the ports in the same exact place.

Even if you could find the mobo, which you can NOT, Just asking that question means you are going to have to PAY to have everything installed. It literally would be cheaper to just buy a new machine.

Desktops are upgradeable even by beginners. Laptops are NOT upgradeable by consumers.|||Laptop RAM, hard drive & battery replacements are easy.

Video card updates typically require a new system board from the manufacturer, since the video chip is usually soldered directly to the motherboard, even in the case of discrete graphics. Replacement motherboards aren't available to end-users ever, and usually don't last very long in spare parts once prodution stops. Since motherboards in laptops are highly customized by the manufacturer, they're really not practical to replace.

CPUs can be upgraded, but usually isn't worth the time or effort. The compatible processor range is far more restricted than desktop processor upgrades. You have to find out which processors are compatible with your chipset, motherboard, BIOS and heatsink (an extra 10W TDP in a replacement can lead to rapid overheating in a laptop). Chipsets in mobile products tend to only support a few minor upgrade options. Laptop manufacturers don't tend to advertise which processors would be possible.

The best method I've used to find compatible processor upgrades is to scan through a list of the manufacturer's models. If the laptop was offered in the same series with a better processor, that better processor is very likely to work (they'd use the same BIOS for all models to save money).

In your example, while I'd really prefer to have the exact processor model # (or the exact laptop model) here's what I would do (I'm guessing at the processor)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-57 - Socket S1g1, 31W http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Ath…

Socket S1g1 is used by - TK and TL (Turion x2) series processors

Best S1g1 processor available = AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile technology TL-68 2.4 GHz 35W - http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Tur…

The best you can do is about a 30% processing power increase, which requires FINDING a compatible processor (they aren't typically sold at retail) disassembling the laptop, usually without a service manual, and reassembling it. Yes, it is possible (and I have done so when I could get some replacement Pentium Ms for $20 each for my Celeron M laptop) but it's definitely not a cost effective approach.

EDIT -

Laptop motherboards are usually proprietary shapes and sizes based on getting the most components into the smallest possible volume. There is no standardized laptop motherboard form factor in comparison to the now very standard motherboards used in desktops, even by OEM manufacturers.

For example, while looking at an HP service manual the other day, I noticed something like a dozen different replacement motherboard part numbers listed, each with a different combination of video card and processor socket listed. Apple's MacBooks work much the same way - they are technically upgradeable, but it's almost cheaper to buy a new model.

I have to admit that the thought of not closing up the laptop never entered my mind. Visions of a 3" thick laptop held together with duct tape might inspire me to make a YouTube video.

Is it possible to upgrade my laptop video card?

notebook have the same specs except for their processors and the other one having dedicated video card. Computer people! Intel video cards: Amnesia and others Help?

Okay, so I was setting up amnesia and i got the error renderer #0, error, I have figured out i need a new graphics card or intel video card I think... I'm very Illiterate when it comes to computer/laptop codes.

I have a:

Compaq presario CQ61 Notebook PC

Processor: Celeron(R) Dual-core CPU T3100 @

1.90 GHz .1.90GHz

RAM 2.00 GB

32 bit operating system

With windows 7

Is there anything I can buy to add to my laptop or anything I need to update?

Please help me, I really want to be able to play awesome games on my laptop.

Thanks|||Renderer errors are graphic based and they can be fixed by either updating with the latest card drivers Or unstalling and re-installing the drivers should help.

If you have integrated graphic card, then you also have the option to buy a better graphic card to improve performance. Integrated graphic card shares the RAM.|||>Is there anything I can buy to add to my laptop or anything I need to update?

There is nothing you can do for your laptop, unfortunately. Laptops are very limited in terms of upgrades -- the most you can do is to add more RAM and perform a hard drive upgrade.

However, the CPU and the graphics chip, which does all the processing, cannot be upgraded or replaced in most laptops.

Games generally depend heavily on a graphics chip, which your Compaq currently does not have. Amnesia requires a discrete GPU to run and is not supported on integrated GPU's.

If you want to play games, you would need an entirely new machine, hopefully one that has a better CPu and graphics chip.

If you would like a notebook recommendation, I can suggest the Lenovo E520 which has a Core i5 processor and a powerful Radeon 6630m graphics card. It retails for AUD $649 but with the BULK2 promotion code, you can grab it for $551. Shipping is free anywhere within Australia.

http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/con…|||Your laptop has an Intel GMA 4500M graphics controller. Unfortunately, the system requirements for Amnesia are a GeForce 8600 GT, a Radeon X800 GT, or better. Your controller is not even anywhere near the performance of either of those.

There's nothing you can do to turn your laptop into a gaming laptop, it's just not one. Sorry.|||I disagree with the first two comments.

I can play amnesia on my old laptop and it runs fine.

Have you tried lowering the resolution on the launcher, disable any enhancements.

If you can, run it in windowed mode.

You might want to update your display drivers as well.

To do that:

1. Type in the windows search bar "update drivers"

2. Click "Update Device Drivers"

3. Click the drop down on "Display Drivers" and right click the driver inside.

4. Select "Update driver software"

5. Allow to update.

If all else fails then I guess you need to buy a newer graphics card.

Hope that helped!

What is the best video card to get for gaming?

I'm shopping for a notebook or laptop and I want to know what is the best video card to get for gaming in particular doom 3?

|||a notebook and laptop are the same thing. lok for a lpatop with a nvida 8000 seires card, like a 8800m or 8700m.|||If you are going to be running a game like doom 3, then all you need is an Nvidia 8800 gt. You can buy that on newegg for like 150 bucks, and still get good performance. Now, if you wanted to run a game like Crysis at comfortable resolution I would recommend getting a nvidia gtx 280.|||for a laptop and to play doom 3, anything in the GeForce 8800 series would very sufficient. However the best video card for gaming is the GTX 280 then the 9800 GX2 followed by the ATI 4870 and 9800 GTX. but most of these are monsters of video cards which i wouldnt get in a laptop, just stick with the 8800 series

What kind of Video does an HP Pavilion dv6500 notebook pc laptop come with?

What video card is inside this computer by default, already in there when you buy it?|||It is probably either Intel Graphics Media Accelator 4500MHD or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 (I guess if you have the AMD processor brand). Look at the laptop specifiations for the laptop, it should tell you, next to graphics.|||Graphics: NVidia 8400M (128M dedicated Ram)

If a notebook pc comes with a express card slot is it easy to add a video card?

The notebook I want to buy has a expansion slot for Express card. Will that mean there is a slot at the bottom of a laptop where you can add it yourself just like you can with RAM. Or will you have to take the whole thing apart?|||There are several different kind of "express" slots on a notebook pc, however none will upgrade the video. Your PCMCIA Express slot is a newer version of that type of slot. It allow for expansion and replacement of parts. (I.E. USB, Ethernet, WIFI, etc.)

Many notebooks now have the NVidia Go XXXX, graphics cards in them. While these cards are supposed to be able to be upgraded, currently there are no replacement cards on the consumer market. If there were, it would be something that you would have to completely disassemble to replace.|||I don't think they make video cards that go in that slot.

Most laptops don't have an option for upgrading the video - some of the higher end ones will - but even they will be limited to a few options due to size restraints.

My computer no longer recognizes my video card?

I have an HP tx2500 notebook with a ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics card. It came with Vista, but I don't like Vista so I clean installed Windows XP. The only thing it says when I look it up is VgaSave, It has now other information.|||you need to install the video drivers

this is hp's website

theres about forty drivers total download them all and save them in a folder on the c drive to download the ones you need

if you need help installing drivers look up how to open device manager in xp in google

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec…|||In my experience in using HP products I found that their driver support is incredible. try going to the HP website search for your product and download the latest graphic driver for windows xp, install and it should work. I also had a HP laptop that came with vista and downgraded it to XP this worked fine for me. Below is a link to the HP website where I have started the search for you:-

Okay...Well, I would go to ATI's website and download an XP driver for it. I'm sure there is one. XP on it's own doesn't recognize many video cards and since video is very specific, I would go with the manufacturer's driver, even if Windows did recognize it, as the manufacturer's will be much better, have a lot more functionality, etc.

What is better integrated Graphics or Dedicated Video Card ?

I am getting ready to go to school and will be using this laptop/notebook computer to do power point presentations and may be playing some games on my free time although mostly for school and surfing the web what the difference between a laptop and a notebook also?|||Dedicated (completely separate) because an integrated video card shares the RAM on your computer with the video card, which can severely slow it down. Dedicated means that the video card has its own RAM and won't take any from your system. |||"All laptops use integrated Graphics cards." - Wrong! Integrated will do everything fine.. Except gaming. Even the "best" integrated solutions are weak for gaming. So long as you have a "robust" integrated IGP (ie: DirectX 10/10.1 Support) turning down the Visual settings may make the game playable.

Besides, computers evolve very fast, and when a faster processor comes out plus another resource hog of an operating system, it'll be the one that will take advantage of the 4GB. If you get 4GB now, when that time arrives, your 4GB configuration with 1.8 Gighz dual core configuration will be outdated, and you'd wish you didnt spend the extra money on extra RAM that you didnt really need, and actually didnt use at all.|||2GB is fine unless you have extra money for the 4GB but your video card is using a portion of your system memory, its up to you then.|||2 is minimum, 4 is much better.|||2 Gig is plenty, especially for a notebook. I just dont want to over-do it too much... maybe just a little XD

Video cards for a laptop?

I am looking into getting a laptop computer sometime later this year. I was wondering what type of video cards they take? What I mean by this is . . . I know PCs have AGP, PCI, and PCI Express bus types, but what kinds do laptops/notebooks have?|||Special. Most laptops don't take updated video cards. They would be special made. You have to check with your laptop's manufacturer.

So if you BUY a laptop, get the TOP video card, if that's your concern. That will be the only video card that you have.

Look for specifications, such as

DirectX 10 and other specs, as well as the type of SLOT that it goes into. Then check the GAME.

If you are a GAMER, you are much better off with a desktop, since they take standard video cards. Today, you would pick a desktop that uses the so-called PCI Express 16 slot.|||Laptops have their own special type of graphics chip. In other words, it doesnt matter. You will be unable to add or modify it in any way.|||laptops r not very upgradable unless you have relatively recent laptop which has options for upgrading the video card

mind you if it is possible it still is very expensive|||normally laptops are not as simple especially nowadays the graphics card is built into the motherboard some are not. i happen to have a dell inspiron 8200 and was able to get a 64mb video card from ebay to replace my 32mb. this was possible because of the specific laptop i have. i suggest that at the time of purchase you make the decision to go with the best available at the time. dell is good for having different options for video cards at the time of configuration, the only setback is yu have to do it online and need to wait for it to ship. if you were planning on buy it at a store you will not have that option you would have to shop around and compare features

Which Laptop/Notebook computers can you replace the video/graphics card in?

What laptops allow you to replace the video card? Can i just buy the usual dekstop Nvidia or AMD cards, or do you buy specific graphics cards designed for laptops?

Thanks!|||well there are probably very few, and unless you got a high end laptop, you prolly wouldnt be able to replace it, and if you did, it would be a special, expensive card

Will this video card run World of Warcraft?

Graphics Chipset: Radeon® Xpress 200M SRS TruSurround XT virtual surround sound

and SRS WOW stereo enhancements; S-video out

Graphics Memory: 64 - 128MB Shared Memory

... Those are the specs on a laptop I am considering buying..

I don't have a lot of $$ to work with, and all of the other specs are good enough to run it, but I don't know much about video cards...

WoW requires : 32MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA GeForce 2 class card or above.

.. if the default card won't run WoW, how much $$ would it cost to get one that would (for a notebook PC)?

Thanx.. I don't know anything about this kinda stuff.|||This laptop should not have a problem with world of warcraft. Althought I would max both the main RAM as well as the ram in the graphics card out. WoW using alot of memory. Also when playing this game on a laptop its a good idea to use a laptop cooler. you knwo the ones that the lappy would sit on. even the walmard $20 special would work. I bought there targus one cheap as usefull til you get a better one. Games like WoW creates a lot of heat as it puts loads on both the CPU and the GPU. Best afforable video card for laptop?

You would have to replace the entire motherboard, which would be a huge waste of money. Sorry :(|||Very few laptops allow upgrading of the video card, so I doubt yours is upgradeable

I have an older Dell laptop that has a mini-PCI adapter, so mine is technically upgradeable, but spending that much money on an upgrade card is a waste of time, considering you will probably have to upgrade a few other things as well, like the RAM. Also, it will put extra stress on your batteries, run them down a lot quicker.

Is this possible and if it is how can I do this?|||It's not possible.

Or at least it's not possible under any reasonable financial costs. The laptop CPU is (almost certainly) soldered on to the motherboard and the video card is (almost certainly) integrated into the mobo.

That's why you should only buy a laptop if you need a laptop... and otherwise buy a desktop so you can upgrade it.

Can you update a laptop's video card and processor?

Hi:

I am thinking of upgrading an '01 laptop (desktop replacement notebook). The processor is Pentium 4, and the video card is a ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. Are there any easy ways of upgrading to a better card and processor, or I just have to stick with them?|||You'll have to stick with them. And with this notebook, you won't be able to play newer videogames, not even the ones made in 2002 (i think).

Only rare gaming laptops offer upgrading abilities.|||you can't everything is built into the motherboard|||no

How do I upgrade the video card in my notebook?

With most notebook computers the video is built into the motherboard. It can be updated, but not upgraded, so to speak. In other words with most laptops you are stuck with what they built it with. You can not change them like you can in a desktop. You might be able to go into the bios and set it to share a greater amount of memory to get better resolution, or it might just have it's own dedicated memory. If it has it's own memory the only settings would be through the properties dialog. I hope this answers your question, Good Luck.|||AS WITHALL GRAPHICS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO TO THEIR SITE AND LOOK FOR UPDATES OR DOWNLOADS AS NVIDIA.COM AND LIKE|||That is depend on your notebook. Intel 945 Express Chipset Video card upgrade?

Is it possible for me to upgrade and get a video card for this chipset. It is on a lenovo 3000 n100 notebook. I've heard that integraded graphics are non upgradeable. I have the intel graphics media accelerator. Thanks|||The best thing you can do is update your video drivers. There's no much else you can do for most laptops.

Unless you've ordered the laptop with the card you wanted, you can't swap it out. Unlike Desktop graphics cards, which are limited only by available slots, Laptop graphics cards are hard to find, and even harder to replace.

Laptop GPUs are not cards at all, but GPU chips soldered into the motherboard (which is why the ones with dedicated cards are said to have "discrete graphics" and others have the built-in "integrated graphics" rather than having "cards"), so as are some of the CPUs - meaning you have to melt the metal solder to even take them out. This is the way most laptops today are made. You'll have to be a real expert to be able to swap them successfully - even then success isn't 100%. Manufacturers will not take them back for an upgrade.

Furthermore, your laptop motherboard chipset will not allow for you to upgrade to a discrete GPU if you ordered it with the integrated card.

Unless you have a laptop with a separate graphics unit or an MXM slot, you won't be able to upgrade/replace it. Check your manual to see if they allow any upgrades. Few laptops today allow you to do so (the Alienware line being one of the very last) I know for sure that recent Dell laptops use the soldering style.

-----------

The only option you have left is to use an Expresscard-adpated graphics unit, but not yet. Maybe in the near future; right now external graphics through Expresscard is in the process of development/release.

There aren't that many for sale yet in the U.S., but if you're lucky, you can find an ASUS XG Station for sale somewhere (but it won't be cheap considering its around $300 for the dock alone). You just need to have an Expresscard slot. They're only offering the 7900GS and 8600GT (desktop card) for the dock so far, but from the looks of the design you might fit other PCI-E x16 graphic cards into it in the future.

http://www.hwupgrade.com/articles/print/…

http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/1671/…|||No, if you've got Intel GMA then you can't upgrade it. It will be integrated onto the motherboard of the laptop, and the only way to upgrade would be to replace the entire motherboard.

Which notebook VGA cards are recommended?

Can anyone list NVIDIA or ATI video cards supporting OpenGL 2.0 or better? I'm browsing the web for notebooks / laptops with the following specs:

* Windows 7 / Vista / XP (Vista 64 is the best choice, followed by Vista 32 and then XP)

* Multi-Core CPU (Celerons are not recommended)

* 4 GB of Memory

* 8 GB of available hard disk space

* A newer NVIDIA or ATI video card supporting OpenGL 2.0 or better with at least 512MB of video memory; more is better.

It is suppose to run Chief Architect software.

I come across a lot of laptops but can't decide if the laptop's VGA card does indeed supports OpenGL 2.0.|||A laptop with an actual video card in it isn't going to be cheap. Most are targeted at gamers.

That being said, a few that I can think of of the top of my head would be:

NVidia:

GeForce 8600/8700/8800M

GeForce 9500/9600/9800M

GeForce 2xxM series

GeForce 3xxM series (not in production yet)

ATI:

Radeon 3000/4000 Mobile series

Not all 8600/8700M and 9500M cards were 512mb. Some are 256mb.

All laptop video cards made by NVidia after that point are at least 512mb, with some 1gb models on the market.

I'm less familiar with mobile Radeon cards, but the same holds true. The lower-end/older cards tend to have less memory.

One final note, all of the above cards support at least OpenGL 2.0. The newer ones are OpenGL 3.2 native, so you are good to go on that front.

Which notebooks or laptops come with Nvidia Quadro video cards?

I would like to buy a notebook for 3D modelling and animation. Video editing and compositing as well. Sager Notebooks was recommended to me, but they have Nvidia GeForce, not Quadro.|||The Dell Latitudes (business laptops) come with Quadro cards. I currently use a D820 in which I have a 512mb Quadro NVS 120 (256dedicated, 256 turbocache).

EDIT: It seems they've re-vamped their business notebook lineup. The D630 and D830s both feature quadro cards as upgrades. The Precision also offers it as an option.

Quadros are not the same as Geforce. They run on similar chipsets, but are very different. For instance, if you take a mobile Geforce card and compare it to a Quadro card based off the same chipset, the geforce will be better at games and such, while the quadro is better at 3d modeling.|||Sager doesn't sell Quadro laptops anymore because GeForce chips are nearly identical (except in drivers), much chepaer, and perform the same in almost all applications. I have a Gateway Notebook, can I update my video card?

I was wondering if it was possible to get a new video card installed on my notebook so I can play Sims 3 when it comes out. I'd like to get a NVIDIA or an ATI one because I hear you can't go wrong with them.|||On consumer-level notebooks, there is no video card but rather a graphics "chip" in your system's Discrete Logic ( a subsystem hardwired* or etched* on the motherboard ).

One way you can ensure the best total (graphics, video and otherwise) performance of your PC is to install the MAXIMUM amount of RAM that it can take.

The rule on that is determined by two limits:

1) Your OS (32-bit (XP or Vista) will have a limit of 4 GBs (about 3.5 for Windows and 0.5 for the hardware subsystem) and 64-bit (XP or Vista depending on version) can go from 8 to 128 GBs)

2) Your PC slots number and physical RAM acceptance (varies by manufacturer and model line)

* Hardwired means soldered to the motherboard

* Etched means burned on the motherboard ( those gold circuits lines )

The easiest way to get that information is to visit the support site of the PC manufacturer.

Sorry about that but NVIDIA or ATI cards go in desktops and towers

Is the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650 (M96) video card enough to higher-end pc games?

Games like Crysis, World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, you get the idea...

Thanks

P.S. Oh, and is it possible to replace a video card in a notebook?|||No, you cannot replace the video card in a laptop. you can only replace the hard drive and the memory from what I know and which I have already done.

The ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650 isn't a very high end graphics card. So let's say that you have a high end PC like you said, if you put this in it it will bottleneck it, in other words it will not use the full potential of the other hardwares like the cpu or the ram.

Just forget the 4600 series and save a bit more money and go with the 4800 series. It will last you longer and you will regret getting the 4600 series cuz its barely gonna run anything. It will run wow and cs since those are pretty old games but it will barely handle crysis. so ya, go with the sure thing.

How do I find out what type of video card I have?

Differences between Notebook graphics cards?

I'm looking at buying a Dell Inspiron 6400 with the ATI X1400 video card. I saw on the web that there is a 128bit version of the card and a 64 bit version. does anyone know how to tell which version dell is using?

is the X1400 significantly better than the integrated intel 950 gpu? Apparently the X1400 has 128MB of onboard ram and uses up to 128 of system RAM. would this make it better <?> or worse <?> than a GPU that ONLY has 128MB of onboard ram? Is it a jack of all trades and master of none? or does it actually perform as well as ATI claims?

-=- jmk -=-|||there is a 64MB version the X1300 and a 128MB version the X1400, this means the amount of dedicated ram. additionally both cards are capable, if needed, to double the amount of used ram, but that ram is shared with the main memory (this technique by ATI is called Hypermemory).

the onboard Intel GMA 950 has no dedicated ram (all used ram is shared with the main memory) and is pretty much slower than a X1300 or a X1400.|||Unlikely that they are referring to "bits". It is more likely Mega Bytes and that then refers to RAM. The more RAM you have the better your video performance is.

So unless you are willing to do all this and spend a whole lot of money to do the above, you are better off buying a new Laptop specifically made for playing games.|||yes it is but it will cost more to upgrade a notebook's video card , then a desktop pc call dell for the right upgrade

I want to upgrade my Dell notebook video card..?

My Dell inspiron 6400 came up with geforce go 7300, I'm pretty disappointed at the moment since that video card doesn't run most of the games smoothly. Now I wonder if I can upgrade my video card to something more advanced.

Thanks for help in advance|||I'm sorry, but that's the biggest problem with notebooks. You cannot upgrade the video card in them.

The WiFi card, yes.

The Modem card, yes.

The wireless broadband card, yes.

But the video card? Sorry.

Help with notebook video card/processor please

I need to buy a laptop, I will use it for playing videos all day. I am a VJ (dj that mixes videos) I'm good with computers but i dont know much about the specs. I know that the higher the ram, the better it will run, so I guess something like 3gb ram would be ok. Now what do I look for in the processor and in the video card? On this laptop I have:

-AMD Turion 64 x2 mobile technology

-ATI Radeon Express 1100 (video card)

-100 gb hard drive

-2gb ram.

What is making my videos lag, my video card or my processor? thanks guys.

p.s. I'm looking to buy a laptop on ebay, an acer, thats why im asking|||Your probably running windows vista. Thats half the problem. Your processor is a bit slow but it not too bad. It should run fine with 2 GB of RAM..|||Get a dedicate video card if you buy a share video card then your performance will drop significantly since the processing powers and ram are share with the video card.

I have a dell inspiron notebook how do i know if my video card is bad.?

I had to uninstall the nvida driver. That was the only way to get any video. The boot screen dell there are a bunch of lines up and down. The scroll function when online is super sluggish.|||If it is new or under warranty...call Dell immediately. They will help you. I have had a good experience with this already. If not...with the lines going through the page...I would say you need a new video card. What program you are running would make a difference too. If you just got Vista...it's Vista...you'll need to contact dell (to see what to do) or microsoft (they may have updates/upgrades that would fix it) or the video card company (they may have recommendations). If it's any other program (ie Windows XP, it's your card and you would have to replace it. Find a local dealer or get one off ebay if the price is right. Don't go somewhere where they may overcharge. Make sure that what you get is compatible with your OS though.|||Hmmm, for some reason sounds like the wrong driver was used.

Try downloading it again, without multi tasking, to make sure its not corrupted.

Install it and see if its good.

If you are using the cd that came with it (if you upgraded) try downloading an updated version.

Do Laptops Have Video Cards?

OK, I don't know that much about laptops, I almost know desktops inside and out...but laptops mystify me a bit.

Do laptops have video cards in the traditional sense of like desktop video cards? Or are the "video cards" just GPU's attached to the motherboard?

My ultimate goal with this questioning: I have a HP dv7 (http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassemble-hp-pavilion-dv7-notebook/) I want to rip everything out, and stuff newer better stuff in.|||Most have GPU's

The most expensive may have video cards

You won't have a video card on your HP

There is a way to use a video card with an external connector if you don't want to ruin your laptop

hope this helps|||Yes, all computers and laptops have video cards. I have that same laptop too btw!

I would suggest seeing a computer expert for more advice!|||Most laptops have built in video to the motherboard|||GPUs. You can't upgrade much other then memory and potentially the disk drive

Can I upgrade the video card in my Toshiba Satellite laptop?

I need something bigger, faster, and with hardware transform and lighting. Everything else about my notebook is great, and I don't really want to buy a new one.|||It appears that the question period has expired. If an answer has been given that meets your needs, please pick a 'best answer'. Regards.|||It would help if you could provide the actual model (which can be found on the back of your device) of your Toshiba Satellite laptop (i.e. Satellite Pro 6000, 6100, etc.). However, the rule-of-thumb for most (if not all) laptops is that you cannot upgrade the video card because it is embedded onto the motherboard; that is one of the main reasons why gamers will not buy laptops. Normally, you can upgrade the memory (RAM) and harddrive on any laptop make. I am not quite sure but I believe that there is only 1 or 2 models of laptops out on the market whereby you can upgrade the video card and for a hefty price too; for your peace of mind, go to Toshiba's website and check their Technical Support section for your specific model (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp) ; hope this helps.

Where can i get the driver for a radeon mobility 9600/9700 video card of a toshiba satelite notebook?

Here is the link for toshiba's website where you can enter the model number of you satellite laptop and download the correct video driver from there. If for any reason they don't have it, you can go to ATI's website and look for the driver there, but I'm sure you'll be able to find the driver at toshiba.com once you enter the model number.

Will adding RAM to my notebook increase my video ram?

I run windows vista ultimate, i have a crappy video card, im buying this week an extra gig of ram, how will it affect my video card performace? Now...i have like 32 mb of video ram..... i already have one gig, so that would be 2.|||If you have a crappy video card then no, if your video card is crappy because it is integrated then yes, because it shares the RAM.

Edit:

Glad I could help. Just as a thought, you should definitely get a video card, especially since you are running vista, which is such a resource hog.|||No, RAM (the computers memory - located on the motherboard) is different from the Videos RAM (which is on the video card) You can not add video ram, you would just have to buy a new video card.|||video ram is diffrent form memory ram

if your buying memory DDR RAM then that wont do anything for you...you need a totally new video card, you cant just add memory to a VGA card dude but you could increase its clock speed but that wont do also....just a buy a new vga card|||It wouldnt affect it.

If you have 512 Mb grafic memory on your computer it will not be faster because of the memory of the grafic.

Two diffenrent things.|||no it will not

Why do everytime i launch my game in my notebook it says please insert video card properly or something like t?

Unfortunately, without knowing EXACTLY what the error says, it is impossible to tell you EXACTLY what is wrong. Moreover, without details like.. what game you are talking about, what make and model laptop you have, etc... there is no way we can see if your laptop meets the system requirements of the game.

This is what the problem SOUNDS like.. as if the notebook doesn't meet the system requirements, and the game is informing you that you don't have a video card that is supported by the game. It is also seen in some cases where the game is EXTREMELY old, and doesn't recognize the fairly new video card in the machine. Again, without knowing details, it is impossible to say.

So, without those details (for it is useless for you to add them now) I'd say, check the game manufacturer's product page for the system requirements, and check them against the specifications of your laptop.

end of line

Is the Crysis game compatible with an HP notebook computer with a 256 MB Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS video card?

Yes, but that graphics card is the minimum requirement for the game. It also depends on what processor you have. I'm guessing you have a Core 2 duo processor but it has to be 2.0Ghz + to at least run the game normally.

HI! I've bought a notebook HP Pavilion DV6933CL. I'm not satisfied with the performance of the video card -Intel X 3100. Can I put another video card in the notebook or can I use external video card? What is the solution to have a better performance?|||Unfortunately, you can't. Laptop graphics cards are integrated. Buy a desktop if you are into gaming. Laptops are to be replaced, not upgraded.|||You can probably get a new video card if your motherboard supports it.You will get a insane boost in your system`s gaming performance.

Before installing a video card to your notebook be sure to contact your vendor for warranty issues as some companies can void your warranty.ALSO note that video cards for laptops are quite hard to find.|||Get a docking station with PCI support, and a good PCI video card.|||+++++++

What video cards are compatible with my Dell laptop? Want a Geforce 7900 GS.?

I am looking for a new graphics/ video card for my Dell E1705. I have the basic package right now. Everytime i have tried to look for a card in a store like Best Buy they have told me i have to go straight to Dell to get any upgrades. Dell offered me the Radeon X1400 or the Geforce 7800. I think i can get the Geforce 7900 in stock but I don't know if it will work with my notebook because everyone tells me "you have to go through Dell". I'm getting the card for gaming and i think the 7900 looks the best especially because i can apparently get it for not too much money. I guess i just want to know that if i purchase the 7900 will i be able to use it and is it the best purchase for my computer? thanks|||What you want is SO EASY to do in a desktop but almost impossible to do in most laptops. Many laptop buyers with gaming in mind make the mistake of choosing a powerful dual core paired w/ lousy integrated graphics. It should be the other way around. If you want a gaming laptop, choose the GPU first then cpu second. This helps a lot in making the buying decision:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Grap…|||just call dell and ask what cards are compatile with the notebook. they have the specs in fornt of them and you can purchase the card anywhere you like|||The problem you don't quite seem to realize is that there are NO expansion slots inside for your laptop. By expansion slot, I mean an AGP, PCI or PCI-E slot. And even if there is, how is that card suppose to HIDE inside your machine? You actually see a space big enough for a video card in the machine? Or do you expect some interdimensional pocket hiding in your laptop that would somehow accommodate a regular store-bought video card?

Your only chance are card made for that model, and as you may guess, they are only available from Dell. And yes, you'll pay more than a store bought card for those... But those are useless for your machine. The ones from Dell will work.

Once you get it, read this article, which explains how to install it yourself.

Video cards for dummies?

I am starting to understand all the components to a computer and how to compare and such. But for what ever reason I can't understand the difference between video cards. I have learned general concept of how they work, but I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between to cards if my life depended on it. What brands are good (notebook wise) and what indicators tell you if its a higher end model or more powerful?|||notebook graphics cards are a whole different story from desktop. They are the exact same brands, but the models and varying speeds are very separate. What you will want to look for is the core clock speed (good ones are around 800-900MHz), and memory clock speed (usually around 4-5GHz on higher end models). The amount of video RAM (often just called memory in advertisements) will usually only matter for someone using more than one monitor, but the standard is 1024Mb of memory (or as advertisements will say, 1Gb).

The two main brands are NVidia, and AMD (Radeon). They are the ones who develop the actual processor ON the graphics card, and they have several distributor companies such as XFX (only AMD) or Gigabye (does both). Those companies create the cooling solutions and the actual look and feel of the card itself. They will also often release special editions of the model of card with varying clock speeds.

Think of it as a family tree, where NVidia and AMD are at the top, and for each of them, are the other companies who try to make the best version of what NVidia and AMD provide. Currently NVidia has a better graphics processor (aka "Fermi"), which is on their GTX 500 series of cards. Now when you compare cards, you will need to remember, often the AMD brand of cards will have actual higher numbers (clock speed, etc) but their graphics processor itself just isn't as efficient. They work very differently from one another.

But when you take a step back and look at the two, the performance from all their cards is really the same to the average joe. It's only the enthusiasts who try to squeeze every last bit of power from the cards, and want the ONLY the best, even if it's only by a small margin. I am currently using an AMD XFX 6950 in my desktop computer, and it's great :) In fact, I'm getting a second one in a little while!

Hope this helped :)|||http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_…

generally, the higher the number of a particular manufacturers chipset, the better it should be. eg, a nVidia 7600GT is better than a nVidia 7300 GT but in noway comparable to the ATI HD6750. But likewise a ATI HD6850 is better than the HD6750

Other than that, memory differences will have a small impact onto the filtering you can do.

mobile gpus are always worse than desktop ones (usually about 1/2 the performance of their desktop cousins) due to limited power, heat removal and space.|||The bigger the better. Thumb me down if you like, but you know it's true. More powerful cards generally have bigger heat-sinks, so that's usually an initial indicator. Looking at the specs of the card, check out the bandwidth, which will basically tell you the amount of output the card can give.|||http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_e…

Here take a look at this. It ranks cards by their "bench mark" scores. It is pretty self explanatory and is the easiest way to see what card beats what.

Video card upgrade for a notebook?

How can I update the video card in my Dell Inspiron 1505 notebook?

What are the different ways? How much will it cost? I'm looking to put at least a 64 MB video card in it, but would like to put a 128 or 256 MB vid card in. I'm looking for as many different ways possible. Thanks in advance!!!|||Unless your E1505 came with a separate (discrete) graphics card, you can't. If it came with built in graphics (such as the Intel GMA 950), then the motherboard won't have a slot for the add-in graphics card. You're stuck with the GMA 950, etc. if you bought it that way.

If it came with a separate graphics card originally (such as an Nvidia or ATI card), however, then you can upgrade to a newer one because it has the slot on the board for it.

-----------------------

Update:

waycar111, doesn't know what he's talking about. The E1505 came/comes in multiple configurations and could be had with either built in graphics or with a discrete graphics card. As I said earlier, the only way you can add a new card is if you configured your Dell E1505 with one in the first place, when you first bought it.|||the only way to update a video "card" (there is no card, the chip is built into the motherboard) is to throw it away and buy a new laptop.

hi i have a travelmate6492 notebook and the videcard in it is a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

which really isnt even a videocard.

would i be able to get a new video card for the notebook so i can play games?|||Nope. The "video card" on a laptop is just a chip on the motherboard (it was built onto the motherboard). Some small amount of companies you could send in the laptop and they would replace the chip for a better one. But the majority of the Laptops you can't change this. You are stuck with what you bought.|||The graphics chipset on this model is integrated onto the motherboard, it's not a separate card, so no, you can't upgrade.

Sony Vaio CS users! What are those unscrew compartments on the back of the notebook?

I was wondering is it like a fan replacement, video card replacement, or RAM replacement, etc? It dosent say in the manual.

Just curious?

there's one compartment next to the battery and one close to the 2 usb plung-ins and jacks.|||I'm assuming when you say back you mean the bottom as if you were using it, i.e. the underside of the notebook.

Usually screw retained compartments on the bottom of a notebook are for access to one of three things: RAM, CPU or Hard Drive.

Most likely it is the RAM and CPU, as nowadays the Hard Drive is either entirely contained or accessible via a side/back panel as opposed to one on the bottom.

If you actually mean the back, I can't find any indication of the compartments you're speaking of.

Hope this helped!|||Be careful. There are normally access ports for ram expansion, wireless and maybe network cards. Video cards are normally built in to the motherboard and can not be changed. Do not touch anything in these without removing power and the battery, and then only with proper anti-static protection.

Can I change my laptop's video card?

Laptops with modular graphics were a flash-in-the-pan technology. Finding one is rare, finding an upgrade for it even moreso.|||Generally you can not upgrade a video card on a laptop. They are integrated on the motherboard. While I dont know specifically for your laptop, but I am pretty sure this is the case.

How to upgrade video card memory in my notebook?

i have 128mb card in my notebook. how to upgrade to a 512mb video card. i have a hp pavilion notebook and have a 4gb ram|||You can't upgrade video card memory without replacing the whole video card.

Few laptops today allow you to do so (the Alienware line being one of the very last)

The only option you have left is to use an Expresscard-adpated graphics unit, but not yet. Maybe in the near future; right now external graphics through Expresscard is in the process of development/release.

There aren't that many for sale yet, but if you're lucky, you can find an ASUS XG Station for sale somewhere (but it won't be cheap considering its around $300 for the dock alone). You just need to have an Expresscard slot.|||Laptops can be rarely upgraded.

Ask your computer vendor if your laptop supports upgrade.

If yes, then go for the best graphic card that fits your budget

The newest are Nvidia Geforce 9 series. they are way too costly. They are made for better gaming experience than play station 3.

Otherwise go for geforce 7300 GT 512mb. Dont put in ATI or AMD graphic cards NVIDIA is best.|||i dont know much about computers but my friend said he would do it for me for just the cost of the new video card?

What kind of video card is good for a HP G71 notebook?

Sorry, out of luck. Besides, they don't even sell laptop graphic cards. Only desktop. And even if they did, where would the slot be for the laptop? They don't have a slot to put them in.

You never needed to ask this question. I see this kind of question at least 2 times a day, where someone wants to add a video card to there laptop. I wanted to do this to, but sadly found out i couldnt. Yes i know its a bummer.

They have developed cards that go into the side of the laptops (provided you have an Express 54 slot). The cards for the laptops (internally) are usually well over $200, but can be found through froogle (nvidia appears to be the only ones that will sell the cards separately.)

Hope this helps!|||It would be way too hard to do so... It would be too risky as well. Buy a new laptop or send your current one to a professional to be fixed. Don't do it yourself unless you know what you are doing.

Good Luck...|||I know for sure you can't put no video card from a tower in a laptop...
